Shocka Conduit
"Don't put your fingers in her socket"
Shocka Conduit started walking immediately after being born, and her stroll quickly broke into a run. She was sprinting in counter-clockwise circles through the wings of St. Jude of Mercy Hospital, taking out nurses at the ankles, before they could discharge her poor, exhausted mother. “That wasn’t a pregnancy, I was a human hamster wheel!” She complained to Shocka’s father, who nodded, silently sympathizing as always.
Throughout her youth, Shocka wreaked havoc upon her beleaguered parents, donning her Wonder Woman costume and using the family furniture as a springboard to leaparound the house to past the point of exhaustion. At school, she would race any and all takers. Boys, girls, it didn’t matter. She took off like a shot, but once the race was finished, she forgot to stop. She kept running in circles until she collapsed and was dragged to the Nurses Office mumbling "Did I win?".
As an adult, she headed towards the building trades because it offered the opportunity for heavy lifting and mental labor. It was also intensely competitive, and the extra challenge of making it in a stereotypically anti-woman environment was also appealing to her. But where was the excitement? The thrill of running as fast and as recklessly as possible? The body checks and the near escapes? And the constant running in circles and jumping over co-workers and equipment got her written up for safety violations a few times. That’s where Roller Derby came in.
The perfect storm of strategy, sportswomanship, aggression, and, well, roller skates. It drains just enough excess energy to make her effective at work, and the endorphin rush rules! It quickly took over her life and she wouldn't have it any other way. Shocka Conduit's other interests include (but are not limited to): Flan, Guitar Hero, Lipstick and Liquid Eyeliner, Hot Tea, Four Square, Richard Hell, Embroidery, Miller High Life, Medical Oddities, Ping Pong, Extra-Strength Advil and Tiger Balm.
